Let’s Celebrate Earth Day!

“The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it.”

– Robert Swan, Author –

Earth Day falls on April 22 every year. On this day, people across the World will celebrate the land we live on, the waters we drink from, and the air we breathe in. Although our individual impact may seem small, our collective impact, which begins with each individual, can make an important difference.

We want to share few things to participate to Earth day and help you do your part:

1. Download the “Earth Challenge 2020” app.

This initiative aims to collect observations of local air quality and plastic pollution by app users. It is billed as the world’s largest coordinated citizen science campaign. Read all about it and download here.

2. Vote Earth!

This campaign is designed to encourage socially responsible individuals to unite as a single voting bloc. Reject inaction and, instead, demand change at the polls. Pledge to vote Earth here.

3. It goes without saying, but..... Stop using plastic bags.

Single-use plastics like grocery bags, candy wrappers, and plastic straws, are harmful to the environment. The world has produced 8.3 billion metric tons of plastic since the 1950s, and only a fraction of that has been recycled. Check out our blog "Generation Plastic" to learn what META is doing about this and if you need any more convincing, click here.

4. Switch to e-bills.

Many bills and invoices can now be done completely online. Although there may be a learning curve for some, the transition to e-bills could reduce solid waste in U.S. landfills by more than 800,000 tons a year. For more information, click here.

5. Join a local organization.

There are numerous national, regional, and local environmental organizations. Meet others who care about the environment as much as you do. To find an organization near your, click here. Share with us if you are already working for a great organization, we would love to hear from you!

Whether as an individual or a collective, doing your part is crucial if we are to make a difference! META Jewelry was created last year on April 22 to do just this. We transform recycled plastics and aluminum from local coffee shops into beautiful art, jewelry, and apparel. To celebrate META turning One and Earth Day turning 50, everything on the website is 20% off from April 22 - 26! To shop now, click here.
